Joplin, a Pictorial History is a book sold by the Joplin Genealogical Society which uses pictures to depict the history of Joplin from 1800 to 1978.
Two musicians that have greatly helped Joplin’s music were given special certificates. There was also a small program called “A History of Music in Joplin” that was performed at the celebration.
The Joplin Historical Society sent out invitations to Joplin’s birthday celebration to people with the last name of Joplin nation-wide in an attempt to get the descendants of Joplin’s early founders to attend.
