Spiva Center for the Arts was a place of lively activity with hosting many events and celebrations. From organizing fashion shows and afternoon tea to encouraging local businesses to participate in artist endeavors, the gallery garnered a lively and fun relationship with the public. The Holly Fashion Show and Tea was a yearly fundraising event for the Spiva Center for the Arts. The event not only raised money for the gallery but also provided a yearly event for Joplin area residents to enjoy or participate in during the winter season.

On March 16th and 17th, 2002 Spiva Center for the Arts presented the event “Kaleidoscope of Blooms Garden Show.” The event was held at the Joplin Memorial Hall and featured gardens, garden and art products, workshops, speakers, and performances.

On September 14, 2003 Spiva Center for the Arts held an afternoon of high tea and snacks to celebrate the exhibition “PICASSO: 25 Years of Edition Ceramics from the Edward & Ann Weston Collection.” The exhibition was on display from July 11th to September 15th.

“Dinosauring Main Street” was an event beginning on Saturday June 17, 2006, where businesses decorated their windows for the "DinoStories/DinoArt” exhibition. Businesses included Joplin Public Library, US Bank, Newton’s Jewelers, Mine & Mom’s Attic, and Sherwin Williams.
