Sometimes a play is published by itself as a book. Other times a play might be published in a book with several other plays, in a collection or "anthology" of plays.
To find a published play, look in the Library's catalog, SWAN under the play's title or the author's name.
For example:
Title Search: Merchant of Venice
Author Search: Shakespeare, William
Many plays are never published as separate books, but some can be found in books that are collections of several plays.
To browse a list of plays, scenes and monologues which are published in collections, do a Subject search in SWAN for:
Ottemiller's Index to Plays in Collections: an author and title index to plays appearing in collections published between 1900 and 1985 by 
Index to Plays in Periodicals by This site is maintained by the librarians of George A. Spiva Library.
