Library DIY: Paraphrasing

Paraphrasing

Paraphrasing is often used in academic writing. It involves taking the words and ideas from the source and rewriting them into your own words.Paraphrasing can be difficult because if it's not done correctly, it can be confused with plagiarism. While paraphrasing a passage, if there are any parts you cannot put in your own words, be sure to use quotation marks around that part Remember! Even though you've rewritten the idea into your own words, you must still cite the source, as it is originally their idea.
