NHD Theme: Communication in History

Each year, National History Day® frames students’ research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for broad application to world, national, or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past. The 2023 theme is Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas.

The NHD theme provides a focused way to increase students’ historical understanding by developing a lens to read history, an organizational structure that helps students place information in the correct context and finally, the ability to see connections over time.

What is National History Day?

Visiting Spiva Library

Area teachers who are working with National History Day students are invited to bring their students to Spiva Library to utilize our resources (print & electronic).  Please contact the library to arrange a date at LibRef@mssu.edu
