Ancestry - Library Edition

This resource allows users to search for relatives in newspapers, government documents, census data, yearbooks, and more

For non-students/staff/faculty, users will need to be on campus to fully access this resource or purchase their own personal subscription. The library edition of Ancestry does not allow for family trees or private messaging.


US Census Bureau

Decennial census by decade beginning in 1790 as well as other census publications back to 1890

National Archives

Court, census, immigration, prison, and land records from throughout the United States

US Military Records

Military personnel records from the National Archive dating back to the Revolutionary War. Records can be searched by branch or conflict. 

Indian Territory Records

Records from the Oklahoma Historical Society include Dawes Rolls, marriage records, and census information

 


Newspapers.com

Archived regional and national newspapers from as early as 1690. Local papers include The Joplin Globe (1896-1958), The Carthage Press (1872-1921), and the Jasper County News (1901-1963).

Missouri Digital Newspapers

Newspapers published in Missouri beginning in 1808, provided by the State Historical Society of Missouri

News Bank

Local, national, and international newspapers of varying coverage. Includes The Joplin Globe (2005-current), The Kansas City Star (1991-current), and the Tulsa World (1989-current)

Historical newspapers published in the United States dating back to 1756, provided by the Library of Congress
