In each of the 4 sections there is information about that section of the test along with practice test exercises. For reading and writing you can choose to do either academic or general practice exercises.

Go to ‘Free IELTS tests’ in the top menu – here you can select to do a free test for any of the 4 IELTS sections: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. For reading and writing, you can select to take either a General or Academic ‘mini test’. Tests will open up in a new window.
