The collection was donated September 2010 by Pat and Arkey Tresler of Neosho, Missouri to the MSSU Art Department. The Treslers wished for the collection to be seen and enjoyed by MSSU students, faculty and staff for many years to come.
The late Arkey Tresler visited Bauchi, Nigeria in 1987 for seven months to build telephone lines. As the supervisor of an American crew, he was responsible for setting poles and stringing telephone wire throughout the city of Bauchi. As an instructor he worked with local people who were trained as telephone workers.
One of the notable pieces of art is the cap made from telephone wire given as a gift to Mr. Tresler.
